Before coming to LA in 2004, I headed to Jeongseon in Gangwon Province with just a camera. It has already been 15 years,, and my memory fades, but I think I rode a bus on the Yeongdong Expressway to Sokcho in East coast… it wouldn’t have been easy to go go Jeongseon because it was my first time visiting … Thinking I would never be able to return to Korea after going to the States for my daughter, I desperately hoped to see the untouched nature of my homeland as it was. Starting a few years ago, I began painting the photos I took on the way to Jeongseon, which I couldn’t make for whatever reason

My ties to painting go way back to when my painting from an art class was displayed in the hallway of the elementary school. I studied in artistic crafts at college before I switched to Korean Literature. Then, I got into photography at the graduate school for fine art. Last year.
